Supervises and coordinates activities of resident workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and maintaining safe grounds by performing the following duties. Responsible for the proper implementation and compliance with company policies, procedures, processes, and standards within the day-to-day performance of assigned duties in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage programs and conduct inspections of facility to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations.
  2. Prepare evaluative reports; recommend improvements and modifications to resolve problems and deficiencies; and prepare responses to requests for information related to facility operations and activities.
  3. Conduct regular inspection of buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure proper repair, facility improvement and preventive maintenance in compliance with program requirements and safety/building codes.
  4. Perform maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds and equipment as needed and maintain an effective work order system.
  5. Arrange annual inspections by local or state fire officials or other qualified person or entity; perform fire inspections and testing of equipment on a frequent scheduled basis.
  6. Prepare appropriate documentation as required for contractual compliance.
  7. Establish, manage and monitor safety training programs for facility staff members and residents on the facility.
  8. Monitor the use, maintenance and storage of hazardous materials, safety equipment and devices; and monitors environmental factors, operating procedures, safety procedures, contamination and pollution.
  9. Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards. Interprets company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  10. Coordinate with other facility staff to determine maintenance needs.
  11. Prepare and maintain appropriate management records such as equipment inventory and building systems descriptions.
  12. Develop and ensure adherence to the facility preventive maintenance plans. Maintains familiarity with existing and changing techniques, policies and procedures utilized by the facility.
  13. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  14. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.  One (1) year full-time, wage-earning experience in risk management or maintenance required (e.g., loss control, worker’s compensation, environmental science, occupational safety or industrial hygiene).  Valid driver’s license in the State of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must complete pre-service program and annual training requirements. Must successfully pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ. Must pass drug screen.
