Description
Custodian/Groundskeeper needed to help maintain multiple buildings and grounds of the Hartford Job Corps Center's beautiful campus in southwest Hartford. Easy access from I-84 and convenient to shopping. Mon-Fri 7:30-4:30 w/hour unpaid meal break daily. $15.50/hr. Free Medical, Dental & Vision. Generous PTO.
DOL prefers staff be fully vaccinated against COVID.
-Sweep, vacuum, mop, clean and sanitize restrooms and associate fixtures
-Dust desks, bookshelves, cabinets and other office furniture where assigned.
-Collect and dispose of all trash, litter and other debris.
-Sweep and clean exterior steps, entrances, landings, interior walls, ceilings, lights fixtures and sidewalks
-Mix and use basic cleaning compounds, waxes and disinfectants
-Clear snow from sidewalks and parking areas using snow-blower, shovel, ice melt materials
-Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
-Maintain center appearance and grounds by cleaning, weeding, mowing, trimming, sprinkling, fertilizing, reseeding, or planting. Maintain all trees and shrubs.
-Perform a perpetual preventive maintenance inspection.
-Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
-Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
-Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
Must understand basic cleaning compounds, waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc. and their proper application. One year experience as a custodian preferred. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid CT driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
