Description

Reports to the career pathways director. Directly supervises the academic instructors, CTT instructors, driver’s education instructor, foundations instructor, CTR instructor, WBL specialist, and scheduling/attendance clerk. Responsible for management of educational services, which includes academic programs, career and technical training, driver’s education, and work-based learning (WBL), in compliance with government, MTC and management directives.

Essential Functions:

1. Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the department.
2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, and implement departmental changes as approved by the site director and coordinated with the human resources manager prior to implementation.
3. Assist the career pathways director to monitor and control expenditures.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs) affecting student services; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives.
5. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
6. Maintain facilities properly; keep area clean and orderly; inspect facilities frequently and maintain quality and cleanliness.
7. Develop and implement procedures and systems for the department; ensure staff development and knowledge of center information systems (CIS).
8. Supervise, recommend and participate in student counseling activities such as staff/student confrontations and individual student problems.
9. Coordinate and maintain an effective team approach between academic, career & technical training, counseling and student personnel.
10. Prepare reports for areas of responsibility; monitor department work plans.
11. Direct program changes; evaluate and develop curricula, instructional materials, methods and techniques.
12. Coordinate and provide oversight of the work-based learning (WBL) linkage development; monitor off-center training (OCT) sites.
13. Manage class scheduling and attendance; meet student training needs. Develop effective program schedules which drive a systemic approach to student progress; staff monitoring and outcome measurement system (OMS) results.
14. Observe training areas and document observations regularly.
15. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
16. Participate in student employability programs and activities.
17. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
18. Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and three years related experience required, two of which must be supervisory capacity. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency also required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
