Description

1. Maintain and preserve all flooring and/or covering by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing and sweeping surface.

2. Clean and sanitizes restrooms and associated fixtures.

3. Wash walls, windows, ceilings and woodwork. Dusts desks, bookshelves, cabinets and other office furniture.

4. Collect and dispose of all trash, litter, and other debris on grounds, streets and parking lots. Sweep and clean exterior steps, entrances, landings and sidewalks.

5. Use basic cleaning compounds, waxes and disinfectants as provided by supervision.

6. Maintain center appearance and preserve all improved grounds by cleaning, weeding, mowing, trimming, sprinkling, fertilizing, reseeding or planting. Maintain all trees or shrubs by pruning, trimming and spraying.

7. Participate in student employability programs and activities.

8. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

9. Demonstrate alignment with and a clear understanding of the mission of Job Corps.

10. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually life, move, pull, push, or carry materials or objects.

11. Occasionally requires reaching, bending, stooping, or standing.

12. Requires prolonged sitting.

13. Requires the ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.

14. Occasionally requires working outdoors to participate with academic or program related activities.

15. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.

16. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.

17. Participate in student employability programs and activities.

18. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.

19. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.

20. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

21. Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Must have completed 90 days in the Job Corps program and be a current Edison Job Corps student. Must understand basic cleaning compounds, waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc. and their proper application. Previous experience as a custodian preferred.
