What you will be doing
This is an exempt position that will report to the counseling manager. Responsible for providing career preparation instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula. Provides students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in career preparation training.
- Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, employability skills, independent living skills and other areas relating to job search through information technology.
- Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes; update materials with current job market, employability and life skills information to supplement curriculum.
- Effectively manage training areas including student behavior and timely record keeping and reporting.
- Develop employability activities and exercises.
- Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.
- Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs; recommend purchases.
- Prepare and orient students for Job Corps program; define expectations and goals; direct and support student progression through program; counsel students.
- Participate in student panel to transition to CDP.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
