Basic Math Instructor

Starting Rates: $846/wk. with Bachelor's degree

                          $884/wk. with Master's degree

 Schedule: Full-time, M-F 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 Responsibilities:

• Provide students with direction, instruction, and assistance to bring their math skills up to the level required to be successful at work and at home. 
• Develop and prepare lessons in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines to best fit students with a variety of skill levels and learning styles. Class sizes are no larger than 18 students.
• Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
• Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the classroom; relate academic skills to career training and workplace requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely attendance and accountability records, progress assessments, and other required documentation.

 Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and current Oregon teaching license or in the process of obtaining one.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency.  Valid driver’s license w/acceptable record.  

 THE MOST COMPETITIVE CANDIDATES WILL:

 Display an aptitude for providing personal, motivational, and academic counseling to youth who may be struggling with academic and employability skills, as well as exhibit strong intervention skills when observing negative behaviors.

• Thrive on flexibility and variety since class rosters can change regularly due to the open-exit, open-entry nature of Job Corps.
• Demonstrate above-and-beyond customer service skills.
• Have knowledge of Google Classroom.
• Have experience with social studies and language art instruction.
