Description
Reports to the food service supervisor. Responsible for the preparation of facility meals based on pre-planned menus in compliance with MTC and customer directives.
Essential Functions:1. Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of detainees.2. Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition; ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.3. Prepare food as directed for special facility functions, visitors and special diets.4. Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.5. Assist in the supervision of detainees assigned to assist in the cafeteria.6. Ensure accountability and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools. Provide accurate count of controlled items at the beginning and end of shift.7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.8. Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required. Food service training, one (1) year of food service or related experience and prior supervisory experience are preferred. Valid food handler’s permit from the state of New Mexico required. Must successfully complete pre-service training. Valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.Benefits:
