Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Reports to the supervisor, career preparation. Responsible for providing career preparation instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula. Provides students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in career preparation training.
- Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, employ ability skills, independent living skills and other areas relating to job search through information technology.
- Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes; update materials with current job market, and employ ability and life skills information to supplement curriculum.
- Effectively manage training areas including student behavior and timely record keeping and reporting.
- Develop employ ability activities and exercises.
- Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.
- Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs; recommend purchases.
- Prepare and orient students for Job Corps program; define expectations and goals; direct and support student progression through program; counsel students.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
- Participate in student employ ability programs and activities.
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and one year experience required. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
