Position Summary

Directly supervises the substance abuse counselor I & IIs. Work involves planning, coordinating and implementing substance abuse counseling activities and coordinating with other departments to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with MTC & TDCJ. 


Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major Course work in Criminal Justices, Behavioral Science or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of full time wage earning experience in substance abuse treatment.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor by the Texas Department of State of Health Services.

Post Hire Requirements

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
