MTC is hiring a substance abuse counselor looking to give people hope, skills, and opportunities for a better life.  $22/hour starting pay.

Position title: Substance Abuse Counselor II

Facility name: Kyle Correctional Center

Location: 23001 IH-35, Kyle, Texas 

Work schedule: Full-time; 8-hour days

Position requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. 
  • Two years of full-time, wage-earning experience in substance abuse treatment or substance abuse education.
  • Current valid license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) or current valid certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals or current qualifying credential to conduct counseling in a treatment environment.
  • A valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Job Responsibilities:
Substance Abuse Counselor IIs directly supervise the Substance Abuse Counselor Interns. They perform highly complex substance abuse counseling work within Substance Abuse Felony Punishment facility (SAFPF)/In-Prison Therapeutic Community (IPTC) programs.  Work involves planning, coordinating, and implementing substance abuse counseling activities as well as coordinating with other departments to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.
