Position Summary: Reports to the Program Director. Directly supervises the Substance Abuse Counselor I & II's. Work involves planning, coordinating and implementing substance abuse counseling activities and coordinating with other departments to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with MTC & TDCJ. Our goal is to give our clients the tools to help them re-enter society as productive citizens and have the skills to help themselves live outside the walls of a prison environment.   We work behind the walls of the Texas prison system. Education and experience requirements:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major Course work in Criminal Justices, Behavioral Science or a related field preferred.  Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required four years may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year for year basis.  Four (4) years of full time wage earning experience in substance abuse treatment. Current licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor by the Texas Department of State of Health Services.
