HOPE is a residential/outpatient chemical dependency treatment facility for justice-involved residents re-entering the community. Located in Henderson, Texas the HOPE treatment facility is looking for a Treatment Specialist who can perform moderately complex group counseling sessions. Plan, coordinate, and implement group counseling activities; coordinate with other departments to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation.   

What does this role look like? 

  1. Provides didactic sessions according to designated curricula within the program. Presents education and life skills classes to assist offenders with basic education on these topics.
  2. Maintain a Therapeutic Community (TC) within the facility working closely with residential monitor staff to create a living environment that is peer driven.
  3. Guides and assists residents in complying with facility rules and regulations. Supervises resident's work functions in accordance with program policies such as morning wake-up routines according to established schedules.
  4. Monitors resident's behavior and reports incidents, and inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff. Notifies appropriate personnel of residents failing to comply with policies and procedures.
  5. Maintains residents and other records regarding services provided including workload statistics; compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
  6. Assist with the development of an Individual Progress Summary for each resident to reflect the evaluation results together with comments about the resident's level of participation and quality of completion in the program.
  7. Adheres to the core functions within practicum guidelines of Department of State Health Services LCDC-I licensure.
  8. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  9. Maintain accountability of staff, residents, and property; adhere to safety practices.
  10. Participates in program meetings and training, or other recovery-based activities as required by the contractor. 

Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED) Associate's degree in the field of psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, or education is preferred; related experience is a plus. A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record is required unless waived by management. 

Post-Hire Requirements: Within 180 days of employment, must have a letter of registration as a CI from the Texas Department of State Health Services.  Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Failure to comply with this contingency statement will result in separation from employment.
