MTC and the BCF are seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse responsible for providing nursing care and assistance for ill and/or injured inmates.
Shift: 40 hours per week All Shifts with varying days off
Pay: $21.45 - $24.00 per hour. Shift Differential $2.00/hour
In this role, you will operate pill call, provide med pass, distribute medication and document as required by applicable policies and procedures in designated location(s). Control medications, syringes and other medical supplies or equipment as required. Under direction of the RN on duty and in accordance with approved standing orders, obtain initial health information and assist with treatment of inmates reporting to sick call. Refer inmates to providers when appropriate. Assist with provider line; prepare examining room and equipment. Perform emergency procedures as needed and call physician for treatment orders when necessary. Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods. Practice basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations. Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records; observe applicable HIPAA rules. Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nurse program and licensure as a practical nurse in the state of
Florida. One (1) year of experience preferred, to include EKG, phlebotomy, injections, IV, casting and
wound care. Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
