Overview

Pay:  $18.00 per hour, a raise to $19.00 after six months, and $20.00 at one year of employment.
 We are also offering a retention bonus of $1,000 after 6 months of employment. This $1,000 incentive will be paid every 6 months for the first 2 years and at the end of 2 years, you will receive a $3,000 bonus.

Work schedule:         Full-time; 12-hour shift (day & night)

Job Responsibilities:  Responsible for the custody and care of inmates and maintaining order and discipline among inmates in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

 Essential functions include but not limited to:

1. Search for contraband and provide security.
2. Count, feed and supervise offenders in housing, work and other areas, which include climbing stairs.
3. Provide custody and security of offenders including observation of offenders, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.
4. Perform security functions including “pat” and “strip” searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions

Education and Experience Requirements:

• No previous experience required. 
• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. 
• Continued employment is contingent upon passing exams and skill tests in the TDCJ Correctional Officer Pre-service Training Academy. 
• Valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
