Pay: $23.79 per hour + $3,000 annual bonus

Job responsibilities: Transport officers are responsible for the transporting, custody, and discipline of detainees assigned to the facility.

Essential functions: 

  1. Drive transport vehicles to transport detainees in vehicles provided. 
  2. Provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees during transportation. 
  3. Perform specific security functions including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. Also required to climb ladders or stairs in search of contraband.
  4. Transfer and transport detainees by walking, driving, or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive detainees, as needed. 
  5. Must be able to work rotating shifts and all posts assignments.

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior corrections experience is preferred. 
  • Valid CDL Class B driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required. 
  • Successful completion of the ICE/ERO bus driver training program, or a comparable approved training program, and all local state requirements for a commercial driver’s license also required.
