Work schedule: Full-time; M-F, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Job responsibilities: The Cognitive Intervention Coordinator directly supervises the cognitive intervention specialists, instructs offenders, and maintains records for cognitive intervention programs. Duties involve planning, coordinating, and implementing cognitive intervention programs.

Essential functions:

  1. Responsible for scheduling courses and directly supervising the program instructors. 
  2. Provides instruction for the offenders for the cognitive intervention program. 
  3. Interviews, screens, and evaluates offenders for potential program participation. 
  4. Maintains offender records and other records regarding services provided to include workload statistics; and compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate. 
  5. Instruct with a variety of teaching strategies. 

Position requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school, GED, or equivalent.  
  • Associate degree in the field of psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice or education is preferred.
  • One (1) year of documented experience in a related field.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post hire requirements:

Must complete a total of 124 hours training in correctional awareness (CAT), training for trainers (T4T), and Cognitive Intervention Programming (GIP). Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
