This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA). SCA employees are automatically enrolled in coverage utilizing the full Health & Welfare dollars. Health and Welfare dollars (also called fringe dollars) are contributed by MTC to help pay for your benefit coverage. Health and Welfare dollars are earned for every hour you are paid up to 40 hours per week. Premiums are covered through Health and Welfare dollars for medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, basic AD&D, short-term disability, and 401k retirement account. Optional coverage is offered for dependents or spouse at the employee’s expense.
Newly hired SCA employees are eligible for up to one week of vacation at 180 days of employment and up to one additional week after one year of employment, and 56 hours of paid sick leave.
Job responsibilities: Responsible for the completion of a wide variety of tasks and keeping assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition
Essential functions:
- Perform custodial duties such as cleaning buildings and washing windows
- Maintain and preserve all flooring and/ or covering by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming and sweeping
- Clean and sanitize rest rooms and associates fixtures
- wash walls, windows and woodwork; dust desks, bookshelves cabinets and other office furniture
- Collect and dispose of all litter, trash and debris on grounds and inside of buildings
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Limited schooling with an aptitude for performing a wide variety of tasks.
- Must understand basic cleaning compounds, waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc. and their proper application
- Previous experience as a custodian preferred
- Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds up and down a flight of stairs
- A valid driver license in the state where the facility is located with an acceptable driving record is required.
