Position name: Food Handler, Cook

Facility name: Texas Civil Commitment Center

Location: 2600 S. Sunset Ave., Littlefield, TX

Work schedule: Full-time; Monday – Friday 7am – 3 pm

Job responsibilities: The Food Handler/Cook is responsible for the preparation of facility meals based on pre-planned menus in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Civil Commitment Office (TCCO) directives.

Essential functions:

  1. Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of clients 
  2. Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safa clean and sanitary at alt times.
  3. Maintain accountability of kitchen tools.
  4. Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors. 
  5. Assist in instructing clients assigned to food services in the safe. hygienic method of preparing and serving appetizing, eye-appealing meals
  6. Prepare purchase orders and other procurement documentation.

Minimum requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. 
  • Six (6) months’ experience in food service preparation required. Correctional, commercial, or institutional food service experience preferred. 
  • Must have valid food handler’s certificate.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
